Meet the Canberra “UberGlobal” Cavalry
Why did we decide to sponsor the Cavalry, you ask? Well, the game of baseball has grown and evolved over the course of several centuries. Variations of the sport were played as early as the 14th Century in France, and during the mid-18th Century in England and Ireland. The modern game as we know it today originated in the United States and is widely viewed as America’s national pastime.
In recent years however, Baseball’s popularity has become far more wide-reaching, now being played in Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
But what does all this have to do with us?
Well, like the game of baseball, UberGlobal has grown from humble origins. In 2001, CEO and local Canberran Michael McGoogan founded the company (then called MCGOOHQ) at just 14 years of age. His entrepreneurial skills saw the fledgling business spread its wings within a few short years, resulting in the hire of his first employee, fellow classmate Joel Wigley. On completing year 11, Michael made the difficult choice of leaving his high school career behind him in order to concentrate on his work. Business was booming, and in 2005 MCGOOHQ acquired AussieHosts, and AussieHQ was born. After many years and 15 further acquisitions, the AussieHQ brand was updated last year, and re-emerged as UberGlobal.
UberGlobal’s identity has been forged through evolution and expansion, and although we are a local company, like baseball, our reach is global. That’s why we’re so happy about sponsoring the Canberra UberGlobal Cavalry! So good luck boys, go out there and make us proud this season!
