Uber’s favourite iPhone apps – Part 1
When I asked around the office for a few staffers’ favourite iPhone apps, I didn’t think I’d get such an overwhelming response. We’re excited about way too many apps to fit in one post, so over the next few weeks, we’ll be presenting this multi-part series of our favourites (including some for Android, yay!).

Infinity Blade
Slash and slice your way through endless battles in one of the most advanced games on the app store.
It’s pretty, gory and fun – Adam Corbally, Level 3 Technical Support
Quota
Monitor your 3G Phone usage, Mobile, ISP, Banks, Stocks, Currency, Traffic Cameras, BOM and International Weather and RSS News reader.
Instagram
Instagram is a simple way to make and share gorgeous photos on your iPhone.
Pick from one of several gorgeous filtered effects or tilt-shift blur to breathe a new life into your mobile photos. Transform everyday moments into works of art you’ll want to share with friends and family.
Share your photos in a simple photo stream with friends to see – and follow your friends’ photos with the click of a single button. Every day you open up Instagram, you’ll see new photos from your closest friends, and creative people from around the world.
Instagram lets a mediocre photographer create pretty awesome photos. It’s such a nice way to see what your friends are up to or to keep your own visual diary. Being able to share to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr is great too – Heather Lansdowne, Online Communications Manager
Skyview
Where will the Sun rise and set today? Is there a Full Moon tonight? Where is the Big Dipper? What is the name of that bright star? What are some fun facts about these objects?
SkyView Free is a powerful and easy-to-use App that answers these questions and more. Simply point the camera to the sky, tap on what you see and discover really neat things about these sky objects. SkyView Free is unique because it blends the camera view with incredible 3D graphics of the sky objects to provide a really neat Augmented Reality (AR) view of your sky.
SkyView Free helps you find stars, constellations, and satellites. Type the name of the object and then simply follow the arrow until it appears in the camera view. Discover neat facts about each of these objects.
I like to use Skyview when I’m planning photography shoots. It tells me where the sun is going to rise and set so I can line my shots up accordingly – Jonno Walmsley, Systems Administrator
AroundMe
Need to find the nearest petrol station?
AroundMe quickly identifies your position and allows you to choose the nearest bank, bar, petrol station, hospital, hotel, movie theatre, restaurant, supermarket, theatre and taxi. It shows you a complete list of all the businesses in the category you have tapped on along with the distance from where you are.
For every listing you can choose to see its location on a Map, view the route from where you are, add the information to your contact list or even email the information to a friend.
The Nearby listing allows you to find information using Wikipedia about what is around you.
AroundMe is a godsend when you’re travelling and need to find somewhere to eat or get petrol – Jason Broers, Systems Administration Team Leader
